{The ADVANCE workshop} | Tulsa Photographer

I know I have been a little MIA and I am so sorry but I promise I have a really good reason!  A little over a week ago I attended the most amazing workshop – ADVANCE workshop-  with two of the best photographers in the business – Trisha from TG Photography and Madison from Madison Vining Photography!  I couldn’t have asked for a more eye opening and amazing day!  I am a firm believer that you are always learning;  techniques are all to quick to change and it’s in all of our best interest to keep evolving so that we are never behind the curve! This is where the ADVANCE workshop came in.

When I first decided to make my passion for photography my business I knew that I needed to learn a lot!  I mean, yes – I went to college and got a business degree and yes, I had been consistently using my camera and shooting on manual but to be honest I wasn’t very good a putting the two together.  It wasn’t long after that I stumbled across Madison’s Facebook page announcing that she and Tricia were putting together a photography workshop for PHOTOGRAPHERS!  This workshop was focused on two things 1. creating better photographers and 2. learning how to make this business work for you!  Those two reasons are the reasons why I wanted to attend ADVANCE as opposed to any other workshop.  I saw two young women, who are married, have kids and are able to not only able to do what they love but to make a living doing it – and all without sacrificing time with their family.  I mean, WOW – it was like they were speaking to me!  It was at that moment that going to ADVANCE was #1 on my list of things to do ASAP!  And a year later I was able to attend and lets just say – they didn’t disappoint!

We covered so much and were not only able to ask questions the whole time but left the workshop with everything in a written format!

We covered the following:

Newborn session demonstration with Trisha (settings, posing, lighting, safety)
Senior session demonstration with Madison (settings, posing, lighting, evoking natural emotion)
Family session demonstration with both Madison and Trisha (settings, posing, lighting, evoking natural emotion)
Photoshop demonstration
Social media marketing chat
Full reveal of their “must-haves” and what’s in their camera bags
Delicious catered lunch – and YES!  It was delicious!!!

If you are a photographer wanting to hone your skill and learn from the best you need to attend this workshop!  I have been spending the last week+ revamping, editing, getting all my cute little ducks in a row so my clients can not only be happy with the photos they get but have the most amazing experience while they are working with me.  I’ve learned more in one day then I have in months and months of research!  I honestly want to go back because I am sure that there is something I missed!! 🙂

The other amazing part is all the swag we received for attending –  it was incredible! The industry partners that are aligned with ADVANCE are top notch!  I mean I WON a Studio Baby!!!  I have been secretly coveting this amazing poser for *months* now and I actually won it!  I mean talk about luck!  Needless to say I clearly could go on and on about how wonderful ADVANCE was – I cannot wait to put all I have learned into sessions with you!

As Buzz Lightyear says “To infinity, and BEYOND”!!!!
